We held our own Hasler race a couple of weeks ago, and managed to squeak a win just one point ahead of neighbours, Falcon.

There were wins for Neil Mc in K1, and Andy F with Max D in K2. Joe P, Shaun H, John C and James L were 2nd in K1, and Irene H with Chris P in K2. Harry C and Ryan C were both 3rd – Ryan in his first ever race, as were Debbie H and Stephen H in K2. There were also promotions for Harry C to 3, and James L and Ryan C to 8.

The Lightning classes were some of the biggest seen this year, and Isabella M “celebrated” her last race in that class not only winning the U12 girls race, but beating all the boys too. Toby P was 2nd in U12 boys K1. In the Hody K2 races, Isabella teamed up with newcomer Amy N to take the U12 race again, ahead of Toby P and Sam Sparkes, whilst the Carrdus School pairing of Hattie B and Rosie W won the U10 class.

Since then the long-distance season has started, and our two crews made the podium at the Leighton Buzzard Remembrance Race, with Paul S and Malcolm G 2nd in Class C, and Will H and Neil U 3rd in Class B.

Not quite so long, Joe P with Tim G-P (Chelmsford) took the win in Class 1 at the first of the Thames Series K2 races held at Elmbridge, with Jessie U and Klara J (Falcon) 5th in class 2.

This weekend will see some of our paddlers in different colours – racing for their schools at the National Schools Kayak Championships on Sunday.
