Despite a rather wet start, the conditions were pretty good for Thameside 2 yesterday.  Joe Petersen managed the double – having won the boy’s K1 race at Thameside 1, just ahead of Oscar McKittrick, this time he took no chances and teamed up with Oscar to win the Boys’ K2 convincingly – indeed theirs was the fasted K2 finish of the day.  All the other crews did well too, without any great problems except for Alice who took the sensible decision to retire early, having damaged her shoulder the week before at Waterside B, and now needs to give it time to recover fully for the DW.  Ray Pearce was also on the injured list, so he deputed Gary Harper to paddle with Sam, and Gary proved to be a very able substitute – hopefully Sam will let his father back in the boat next weekend.
