Most unusually, the first regatta of the year was sunny. All weekend. Gone are those memories of hanging around the lake battling wind and rain (well until May anyway). It’s always interesting to see where different paddlers and different clubs are on their training plan this early in the season, so lots of wins, places and finals for all the BDCC competitors meant we are well in the mix, and many of the juniors will undoubtedly be in line for promotions through the sprinting ranks during the year. Whilst most of us are exhausted and recovering now, spare a thought for Luke, Will and George who have all had to stay up in Nottingham for the last 3 day Regional Training Academy Camp, before the new British Canoeing squads for 2017 are announced.
