
Over 190 paddlers from as far away as Truro, Runcorn and Norwich took part in the race this year. Some of Banbury’s youngest paddlers joined in the fun on the day by taking the rocket K4 to Banbury and back. Other paddlers including some international level elite racers raced from Cropredy to Nell bridge and back either straight through K1 or K2 or as a relay. Sam Dickson matched the current Junior Mens K1 record with a time of 02:33:22; Andrew Birkett broke the Veteran Mens K1 record with a time of 02:41:32; Elise Montagna & Katie Brookes took the Senior Ladies K2 title with a time of 02:42:25. Brynde Kreft set a new Senior Ladies K1 record of 02:51:29 with the Junior Ladies K1 record also being broken by Frankie Scrivener setting a new time to beat of 03:07:39. The Veteran Ladies K2 record was also broken, Rebecca Bird & Anja Whelan set a new record of 03:18:55.
The race held in memory of club member Ross Warland raised £1500 for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
