The club have raced at two in-region haslers recently – coming 4th at Thames Valley and joint 2nd at Oxford. There were no wins at Thames Valley, but a number of podiums, and everyone was back on form at Oxford – with a fantastic Div 1 win for Joe. Will in Div 3 and Zoe and Charlie in Div 8 K2 also took the top spots, and with plenty more podiums and promotions, the summer training seems to be kicking in.

This week saw the Ladies Who Launch (who are no longer just ladies) take their Monday morning social paddle to Oxford for the 8 mile loop from Wolvercote, followed by picnic lunch in the sun – with the geese.

With no in-region race this weekend, there was a chance for a time trial. Thanks to Mark, who took orders before everyone got on the water, there was a bbq ready and waiting when they’d finished. Some still managed to find some racing to do though, and Alex B got himself promoted in his C1 to Div 6.

There was also some wildwater racing last weekend, with Rob Guy and George taking on the Nottingham Daleks race, and between them recording wins in K1, Wavehoppper, C1 and C2 classes!

This week will see the last group from the This Girl Can day finish their training course – we’ve had around 25 people back from that day which has been amazing, and many thanks to all the coaches who have absorbed the extra sessions. We have also just finished a summer of paddling with a great group from Akeley Wood School, and we hope to see some of them back in the holidays too. The general beginner courses finished yesterday for the summer, as the canal will just get busier from now until after the Fairport festival in August. And the coaches need a bit of a rest!
