On Sunday, four of our paddlers swapped club kit for school uniform to take part in the National Schools Kayak Championships, run by the Devizes to Westminster team.
There was a sprint regatta in the morning, with crews racing over 200 and 500m, followed by a 12 mile marathon race during the afternoon. Scheduled originally to take place on the Thames, the organisers did a brilliant job moving it at the last minute to Wey Kayak Club due to the high water levels on the Thames.
The Bloxham crew took 1st in the 200 and 2nd in the 500 and marathon, behind a boys’ crew, leaving them winners of the mixed class, while the Sibford crew were 3rd in all three distances, and the second boys’ crew throughout the day. Well done to all.
