On the hottest day of the year so far, the Lightnings were back to winning ways, topping the table at Falcon today. The rest of us could only manage 4th, but that keeps us in the qualifying zone for the Hasler Finals. There were wins for Izzy and Lizzie in the Lightning races, while new member Dylan showed he’s transitioned successfully from surfski paddling in his native Australia, taking a very comfortable win in Div 7 with promotion to Div 6. Other placings included a 3rd for Isabelle, who then paired up with Lizzie for a 2nd place in K2, and a third in U12 K2 for Izzy and Will. Stephen and Debbie weren’t bothered by their promotion to Div 8, taking another 2nd, whilst Rachael and Felicity were 3rd in Div 7, just ahead of Simon and Chris. Lance managed to keep his boat the right way up this week, coming second in Div 8 with promotion to 7. Rachel wasn’t far behind in 4th, and also promoted.
As you can see in the photo – virtually everyone who didn’t have in involuntary swim during the race took the chance to cool off in the Thames after they had finished.
