A convincing win at their own Hasler race topped off another successful weekend for Banbury and District Canoe Club.
Over 200 paddlers from around the country took to the Oxford Canal on Sunday, racing over distances from 2 to 12 miles, and with up to 14 locks to carry their boat around. BDCC paddlers made the most of the home advantage. There were medallists at all divisions, and the club dropped just dropping just one point from a maximum of 240 beating neighbours Falcon Oxford into second place and Reading Canoe Club in third.

Cian won Div 7 K1 and was promoted to Div 6, after only a year of paddling, while Lee D, paddling with Rachel TF to win Div 6 K2 is another new to the sport, but is powering through the divisions, with multiple wins along the way. Others to top the podium were Max D and Andy F (Div 4), William H and Keith L, (Div 5), and Tamsen F and Kim D (Div 8). In the U12 classes, Lizzie H won the K1, ahead of teammates Isabella M and Catherine B, and Lizzie and Isabelle also doubled up to take the K2 race.

Making the second step on the podium were Joe P (Div 1), Harry C (in his first Div 4), Will L (Div 7) Jenny B (in her first ever race) with Abi B (Div 9 K2), whilst in third place were Shaun H (Div 2), Neil McA (Div 3), Michael P (Div 5 and promoted to Div 4), John-Carlo D (Div 6 and promoted to Div 5), Greg O (Div 8), Penny Hand Jacqui S (Div 8 K2).

Jack C and George U had the busiest weekend. On Saturday they raced at the Welsh Open Wildwater Championships in Llangollen, winning the U23 and U18 classic classes respectively, then coming back to take 2nd place in the 12 mile Div 3 K2 race on Sunday.
