Banbury had an excellent set of results at the Henley Hasler this weekend.  With one of the longest portages on the Hasler race circuit, it definitely rewards those who can run well with a boat.

In the divisional races there were wins for Ali D in Div 4 K1, Jessie U Div 6 K1, Robin A with Jerry H in Div 3 K2 and Jacqui S and Debbie H in Div 8 K2.  Second places went to Joe P Div 1 K1, with Shaun H Div 2, George U Div 4 and Harry C with Toby H in Div 6 K2, with third places for Robin F Div 3 K1, Guy B Div 5 and promoted to Div 4.  These, combined with other high scoring finishes meant Banbury were the overall winners on the day, leaving joint leaders in the Southern Region with nearest neighbours Falcon.

The Lightning paddlers had an equally successful day, with a win in U12 boys for Will L, who was joined on the podium by Jake G in his first race, and who just edged out fellow Banbury paddler Joseph E into 4th place by one second! Catherine Beck’s 2nd in U10 girls, together with James Lynn’s 7th place in U12 boys meant the Lightning team were also overall winners on the day.

Hopefully everyone is now primed and ready for the Hasler Finals next weekend!
