This week’s training camp was a real test of resilience for the juniors – but they kept coming back.  The weather continues to blight all sporting events at the moment but luckily, as we train on the canal rather than the river, we are still able to get out safely onto the water.

We had a consistent 12-14 junior paddlers turn up each day for the three training sessions – two on the water and one either in the gym or running.  Whilst everyone who attended will undoubtedly have come on from the intensive training, there were some big jumps in performance and attitude from some which was very gratifying for the coaches – who also spent three days getting wet and muddy!  We’re looking forward to seeing the training transferring to races soon, with the first regatta next weekend and the Hasler races starting in region next month.

Don’t think training camps are all hard and work and misery though – there was also quite a lot of cake, and sausages and doughnuts at the end.
