With Joe at the Marathon Worlds, and a group of juniors (and “responsible adults”) at Sobeka, it was a slightly depleted team that raced at Pangbourne, in the first southern region Hasler of the new season.  Despite that, the club took second place overall.  In the divisional races, there were wins for Max and Andy in Div 4 K2, and Debbie and Stephen in Div 8 K2.  Will P took a great 2nd in Div 7 K1, with promotion to Div 6, whilst Robin A did the same in Div 4.  Robin F continued his good run at the top of Div 3 with a 3rd place.  Others promoted over the weekend included Andrew P going up to Div 8, Toby H – finally securing his place in Div 6 and Steve Perry to Div 5, whilst there were near misses for Michael P, who had a stunning race for his first Div 6, and Alex B, who is looking increasingly strong in the C1.

The Lightning paddlers also scored well, with Will L winning the U12 boys, and then teaming up with Joseph E to take the U12 Hody K2 race.  Joseph had come 4th in the K1, ahead of James L in 5th. Isabella M was 2nd in the U10 girls, and then raced up, with James, to come 5th in the U12 Hody.

It’s nn now to Henley next weekend, and then the Hasler Finals at Richmond.
